JOE IURATO is an American street artist. He is internationally known for his small wooden cut-outs that narrate stories about the pathway from childhood to adult life. Taking inspiration from his own life, he catchs his children growing up and their interaction with the urban environment. IURATO creates site-specific figures that communicate with their surroundings. He uses layers of hand cut paper and spray paint to give life to his figures, blending the old-fashioned printing process with one of the modern street art techniques, the stencil.
His energetic characters are captured having adventures, climbing trees or sailing boats, as we can see here in the Wynwood Walls. IURATO shows his characters having an introspective and emotional attitude too. His characters often explore significant values such as friendship, love, understanding, telling heart-warming tales about human experience.
